from a series of posters by Anneke Short "Confessions of a Graphic Designer"
| Please take notesI am a graphic designer, not a mind reader. I understand that with every project a bit of psyhic powers must be summoned, but I have found, that most generally, asking questions is the best way to get answers. So people, if you are ever working with a designer of any kind, ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS! Even if you think they should "just know" what you want, or you want them to "just do some quick designs" you need to realize what you are asking. Would you tell a random hairstylist, you know what I want just cut my hair? Or a carpenter, building you a house, just do some quick building, I'll know what I like when I see it. I'm going to guess probably not. So help them out, give them some idea of what you want and what you like. If you need them to give you a visual first, that's perfectly acceptable, but then work with them, be specific about what made you smile and also, it is just as important to explain what made you cringe. |
